Control Sistem's roller bench has been designed of use with light vehicles (cars and industrial vehicles up to 5500 kg), and is the single roller type with a diameter of 48 inches (1219.2 mm) and is therefore suitable for the measurement of emissions and performance.

The control of the bench is done via an asynchronous type electric motor controlled by a vector inverter, placed at the centre of the rollers and mounted with an oscillating framework with the coupling read by a load arm and cell; the engine's supports contain a device for the slow rotation of the bearings so as to minimise hysteresis and wear of the bearings themselves. The maximum mass of the axis is 350 kg while the bench can simulate an inertia continuously set to between 500 and 5500 kg. The continuative power of the motor is 210 kW, which is constant from 120 to 250 km/h with a traction force on the rollers of 6200 N from 0 to 120 km/h.

ROLLER BENCH USES

Cycles of emission measurements according to the following international standards:
- ECE / EUDC / NEDC European standard
- FTP75 / SFPT (US06, SC03) USA standard
- 10-15 mode / JC08 Japanese standard

Cycles of power measurements in static and dynamic conditions:
- Duration tests
- Consumption tests
- Performance tests (acceleration, recovery)
- Driveability tests

The control system is composed by a micro PLC dedicated to the real time control of all bench functions and a standard PC that, using an easy-to-use graphical user interface, allows the setting of all bench functions and the real time monitoring and visualisation of all system parameters during the test.

MAIN FUNCTIONS

- Road load simulations in accordance with the vehicle parameter settings
- Operation at constant velocity with power measurements
- Determination of the vehicle power curve with ascending or descending ramps
- Automatic Coast Down cycle verification
- Automatic bench calibration cycle
